job description
  • Travel to students' homes to conduct tutoring sessions.
  • Schedule tutoring appointments with students or their parents as per instructed by Tuition Service Nepal (TSN). 
  • Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to complement tutoring.
  • Prepare and facilitate tutoring workshops, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions for students.
  • Participate in training and development sessions to improve tutoring practices or learn new tutoring techniques as per instructed by Tuition Service Nepal (TSN).
  • Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
  • Monitor student performance or assist students in academic environments, such as classrooms, laboratories, or computing centers.
  • Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
  • Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
  • Prepare lesson plans or learning modules for tutoring sessions according to students' needs and goals.
  • Maintain records of students' assessment results, progress, feedback, or school performance, ensuring confidentiality of all records.
  • Identify, develop, or implement intervention strategies, tutoring plans, or individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Develop teaching or training materials, such as handouts, study materials, or quizzes.
  • Communicate students' progress to students, parents or teachers in written progress reports, in person, by phone, or by email.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, teachers, school administrators, or counselors to determine student needs, develop tutoring plans, or assess student progress.
  • Assess students' progress throughout tutoring sessions.
  • Administer, proctor, or score academic or diagnostic assessments.
  • Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies.
  • Provide private instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance, improve occupational skills, or prepare for academic or occupational tests.
  • Provide weekly report to Tuition Service Nepal.

Specification

  • Must possess a passion for helping students learn and have the knowledge and skills to help students find new ways to look at difficult skills and concepts.
  • As a tutor, you must have patience, as many students you work with will have trouble understanding the content you are trying to help them with.
  • You must also have a positive attitude and know ways to motivate students when they become frustrated by the material they do not understand.

Qualification:

  • Bachelors running or completed in any field.

Responsibilities

  • As a home tutor, the main responsibility is to help students learn, reviewing content with them, explaining how to solve problems and checking completed work.
  • A tutor may also help students develop study skills and organization techniques to help improve their academic performance. 
  • Tutors must often keep reports on students and share those reports with supervisors, teachers and parents.
  • In addition to the academic component, tutors are responsible for supervising groups of students, providing discipline and serving as a role model.

Schedule

  • The schedule of an after-school tutor varies by position.
  • Home tutor positions may require as little as six hours a week.  
  • All work will typically be completed on weekdays during the regular school year, usually between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Occasional Saturday hours or daytime meetings may be required during the exam session.
  • As a tutor, you may work with the same student every day or work with a different student each day, depending on the needs of the students and the type of program you work for.
