About Us

Raleigh has been working in Nepal since January 2015. Following the devastating earthquakes in April and May that year, we believe there is an even stronger need to work together with communities to create lasting change. We support local partners and communities in Gorkha and Makwanpur districts – areas severely affected by the earthquakes. The focus of our work is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Livelihoods and Youth Development. Along with our partners we have identified the challenges facing local communities, and specifically local youth, as well as the wider picture of current development initiatives in Nepal. We have found that agricultural skills, along with entrepreneurial skills, such as small business planning can create the opportunities to generate reliable, sustainable incomes. We have also found a strong need for reliable, sustainable water sources which have to withstand the climate change of increasing monsoon rains and the mountainous landscapes that make retrieving water a very hazardous activity. There is a lot of work to do, and we believe that by working together with communities, local project partners, the government and groups of passionate and inspired young people, we can make real, lasting change happen.
