The Country Office’s framework of support for 2014-2017 builds on lessons learned from past programming and adopts a holistic and integrated approach across UN Women’s five thematic priorities. It is guided by Nepal’s stated priorities and its commitments to relevant normative frameworks, the country’s UNDAF 2013-2017, the CEDAW Concluding Observations 2011, and UN Women’s corporate Strategic Plan 2014-2017. Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision and guidance of Monitoring, Evaluation and Strategic Partnerships Officer and in close consultation with other team member for a day-to-day operation, the selected intern is expected to work on/contribute to the below assignments:

  • Support the implementation of the Gender Statistics Programme in Nepal. Assist the regular monitoring of programme activities and ensure timely and comprehensive documentation of the programme evidences including taking meeting notes;
  • Analyse the existing set of national level databases and survey data and re-process the raw data to generate data for gender related SDG indicators;
  • Lead organising orientation, events and other workshops and coordinate meetings and initiatives with various data producers and data users, which includes government, development partners, sister UN agencies and civil society organizations.
  • Contribute to the review of background documents, briefs and presentations related to the gender statistics;
  • Undertake administrative tasks necessary for the implementation of the programme, including preparation of budgets, reporting on budget/programme performance, and preparation of inputs for results-based budgeting.

Education:

  • The intern must be undergraduate or equivalent in statistics, international development studies, related social sciences or discipline at the university level.
  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme or a recent graduate (commencement of internship within one-year period after graduation).
  • Knowledge of statistical tools and database will be an asset.
