Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI) is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit institution registered in Nepal. It aims to address the contemporary policy challenges, such as the gaps between policy and practice, and to influence public policy through rigorous scientific research. Established in 2004, NDRI comprises of an interdisciplinary team of experts with highest academic standings, mostly doctoral degrees, and wealth of national and international experiences.   1. Roles and Responsibilities

Senior Research Associate (SRA) is the position to contribute research, training and events undertaken by NDRI.  S/he will  be working under different program coordinators as required and report to the Executive Director (ED)/Program Director (PD) of NDRI and deliver quality outputs following the  instructions from ED and other NDRI Board Members as well. The incumbent will supervise a team of Research Associates, Research Assistants and Field Researchers. The main roles and responsibility will be proposal development, coordination, and enhancing external relations.

The specific tasks to be performed are as follows:

  • Scrutinize the calls for expression of interest, proposals solicited from print media, online, and random exploration, and facilitate for development of proposals in coordination with the Executive Director and the respective program coordinators.
  • Review of Policy frame and guidelines of the Government and national international agencies and prepare Project Concept Notes (PCN) and proposals in different areas of interest of NDRI.
  • Review of data base on the state-of-the-art information on practices of data base management, develop in presentable format and prepare reports in various formats including graphs, charts, matrix etc as required.
  • Facilitate and build capacity of researchers for proposal writing and documentation preparation and prepare reports of projects.
  • Support NDRI Management for institutional capacity building for Quality Control and Quality assurance for research and publication.
  • Play instrumental role in collaborative research/training and national/international events with other organizations.
  • Represent NDRI in various official meetings with Government and non-government agencies for collaborative research activities.
  • Performs other tasks by fully considering NDRI Vision, Mission, Core Values, Objectives and Focal Areas instructed by the Executive Director and /or relevant Program Coordinators.
  • Supervise and lead a group of researchers both in the office and in the field.
  1. Terms of Engagement

Station: NDRI Office, Pulcowk, Lalitpur, with visits to project  areas in all over the country and outside the country. 

Duration: Annual Contract with possibilities of extension, two months of probation period.
